Eduroam for Students and Staff Glasgow Clyde College have partnered with Eduroam which gives WiFi access to you when at the College and thousands of other locations around the world!

What is Eduroam?

Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. This means you just sign in once and then you always automatically pickup the Eduroam WiFi network where it is available.

Eduroam allows students and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions.

How do I connect to eduroam?

To connect to Eduroam you will need to configure your device. Most users will only need to configure their device for Eduroam once.

Where is Eduroam available?

eduroam is available on all Glasgow Clyde College campuses.

I am a visitor, can I use Eduroam?

If you are a visitor from a participating Eduroam organisation, then you will be able to use Eduroam. Please ensure that prior to visiting that your device is configured to use Eduroam.

If you experience any difficulties then you should report these via your home organisation IT support.

Setting up your device.

You should use your college email address and password.

Connect with Windows 10
  1. Click on the network/WiFI icon in the bottom right of your monitor. Network Image
  2. Select the ‘eduroam’ network and click ‘Connect’ ensuring that ‘Connect automatically’ is selected. Connect Image
  3. Enter your username and college password, then click OK.

  1. Click Airport menu and select ‘eduroam’ Network Image
  2. Enter your username and college password, then click OK.

  3. Accept the College issued security certificate.
Connect with IOS 14

When using IOS 14 and above turn off Private Address function in your phone’s settings for the Eduroam wireless network.

  1. Open up the ‘Settings’ app and click on ‘Wi-Fi’ Network Image
  2. Tap on theInfo Icon icon next to the network called ‘eduroam’, depending on IOS, turn off Private Address and re-join. Connect Image
  3. Enter your username and college password.

  4. If asked, please accept the certificate.
Connect with Android

Your device must support WPA2 Enterprise in order to be able to connect to eduroam.

When using Android 10 and above turn off randomized MAC Address which is on by default (optional from Android 8) in your phone’s Wi-Fi settings menu for the Eduroam wireless network.

  1. Go to the Apps list and tap Settings > WiFi
  2. From the Available WiFi Networks section tap on Eduroam to connect
  3. Enter your username in ‘Identity’ and college password (‘Anonymous’ – please leave empty)

  4. Set the following settings if required:
        Server Certificate Validation: ‘Do not validate’ or leave empty or ‘(unspecified)’
        EAP Method: PEAP 
        Phase 2: MSCHAP v2
